Zombies & Books

Since I've been ill this weekend, ordered to bedrest, I actually finished watching two new anime-series, Toshokan Sensou and Zombie Loan. The first one I have watched bits and pieces of for a while now, but during summer it's been on hiatus for me, as many others. When I came back home, it was finished and available in full download. So I started over. ^^

Toshokan Sensou
, or Library Wars, is a serie about censorship and the
struggle to keep the freedom of expression that somehow tilted over the edge and developed into full blown war between the Library Corps and the Media Cleansing Committee. Within this we follow a woman named Iku Kasahara, who joins the Library Corps because of an inspiring meeting in her high school days, where an unknown LC-officer so gallantly saves a book from the MCC for her.
I was simply curious at first, because it sounded like an intruiging storyline
and all of you who know me should know that I'm obsessed with libraries and my secret ambition (World Domination set aside) is to become a... librarian!
After watching the first episode though, where we get to know all the main
characters, I was... hooked. I love everything about this show, the characters, the story, the design, everything. There were certain things you could see coming miles ahead but the show's so good that you don't mind it, it becomes part of the thrill of watching. And yes, I cried several times at the end. It was sweet, it was sad, it was perfect. It definitely found its way to my top 5. Now, with that said... don't get too high expectation on this serie from this. I'm just saying that it's a good show and it deserves a chance.

Zombie Loan I had never even heard of before it one day appeared at BU, and you have to admit that it has a very appealing name. It triggers that little thing called curiosity in me, so I decided to give it a shot.
The story is about a girl kalled Michiru Kita who has Shinigami eyes, which
means that she can foresee when someone will die because of the grey ring that appears around their neck. When that ring turns black, the person dies. One day she notices two boys in her class whose rings have turned black and after a turn of events it is revealed that the boys have made a secret deal with a loan office called "Z-Loan" or rather "Zombie Loan". Now they're legal zombies hunting illegal zombies for the loan office in exchange for their lives and seeing Michiru's ability they recruit her. Sort of.
...

You can see why I got curious? ^^

Anyway, I was supposed to simply get the first episode (because I like to
download first episodes and discard them -after- I watched them) but turns out that it was a batch so I got them all. Since I've been ill, I've not been able to sleep properly and I have to be up a certain amount of time before lying down again. So I thought I could waste some time by watching that first episode as I was supposed to. Although... I ended up watching the whole thing. o_O Lucky me, there's only 13 episodes. And then again... WTH??? How dare they not make more episodes?? How can they just leave it hanging like that?! Hell yeah, I'm upset! I'm fucking pissed.
As you might have gathered by that, this is another show I came to love.
It's very rare for even me to get so entranced by a show that I watch it all the way through at once. Now, the bishies absolutely helped with that, but it's actually a better storyline in it than I first expected. A lot of things was better than i expected, and to be honest, my expectations were already set quite high. When my curiosity gets tweaked like that, I mostly set myself up for disappointment. And yes, I faced a major disappointment in this show.
You see, at first there were only 11 episodes but later on they added two
more episodes (with the DVD's I've been told). I would have been content with 11. It would have finished something. Although I would still have wished that it'd been longer. But those two last episodes... wtf? How can they do this to people? They better fucking continue this serie, lest I shall bring doom upon them! Or something like that. ^^ The last two episodes, 12 and 13, builds up for a whole other arc to happen only... it doesn't. They just leave it there.
So... I still recommend you to watch it, but do yourselves a favour and don't
watch the last two episodes until more are coming. Even if that means never. Just don't.
